LSU Coach Corey Raymond Declines Interview with Georgia

As president of Marshall Properties, Newton Dorsett owns more than 100 commercial and residential rental properties as well as the Remington Suite Hotel in Shreveport, Louisiana. When he isn't managing these properties or his other business interests in the oil and gas sector, Newton Dorsett enjoys following the Louisiana State University (LSU) football team.

Despite receiving interest from the University of Georgia, LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond intends to stay with the Tigers through the 2019 season. Raymond, who has been with LSU for the past eight seasons, was scheduled to interview for the vacant defensive coordinator position in Georgia after Mel Tucker left to serve as head coach of Colorado, but will instead serve the final year of the three-year contract extension he signed in 2016.

During his tenure as the Tigers' defensive backs coach, eight LSU defensive backs have been chosen in the NFL Draft and the school has been given the nickname Defensive Back University. An LSU alumnus himself, Raymond spent six seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. He retired in 1997 after registering 287 tackles, 11 interceptions, three forced fumbles, and three sacks in 90 career regular season games.
